About the Tool

Macsmith brings your command-line developer tools together in one native Mac app. Instead of juggling terminal windows and searching for the right commands, you can see and control your entire local development environment from a single, clean interface. Manage Homebrew packages with ease: browse what’s installed, keep everything up to date, and add or remove packages in a few clicks. Switch between language runtimes using mise and nvm, so moving between projects that need different versions takes seconds. Run Docker through Colima and inspect your Lima virtual machines without memorizing flags or subcommands. Start and stop local PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB services whenever you need them, and always know which ones are running. Macsmith also takes care of the small tasks that interrupt your flow. Find out exactly what’s using a port, manage your SSH keys, and set up local HTTPS for development. Expose localhost through ngrok to share your work or test webhooks, and edit your hosts file and shell aliases directly in the app. Everything is presented at a glance, with a clear view of what’s installed, running, and configured, so you can handle everyday development tasks without breaking focus or looking up commands. Built natively for macOS, Macsmith feels right at home on your Mac and keeps your setup organized, whether you’re a seasoned engineer or just getting started with local development.
